Vendayka Mezhukupuartti (Lady's finger)

Ladies finger

                      Adding pepper powder to any dish changes the taste of the dish completely. There are people who dislike pepper powder, but sometimes it becomes the main ingredient which is irresistible. Here is a Kerala's typical dish which is quite easy.


Ingredients :
  1. Vendayka ( Lady's finger ) : 1/2 kg ; chopped
  2. Onion  : 1 small sized ; finely sliced
  3. Mustard Seeds : 1/2 tsp
  4. Oil : 3-4 tbsp
  5. Pepper powder : 1 tbsp
  6. Green chilli : 1-2 ; halved and splitted
  7. Curry leaves : a few

Method :
  1. Heat oil in a pan. Add mustard seeds.
  2. When they splutter add onion and curry leaves. Saute till they turn transparent
  3. Add green chillies and then add lady's finger. Mix them altogether. You will see lady's finger turning sticky. Add 2 tsp of oil again to reduce sticking and mix well in between.
  4. When sticking is finished completely add 1/4 cup water and pepper powder. Cover lid and cook for sometime.
